Company History

Origina started life in 1998 as Unitech Systems. We originally partnered with IBM and Oracle to help organisations manage the transition from non-Year 2000 Compliant applications to the more complex multi - tiered applications that many organisations were rolling out at that time. The IT infrastructure to support these newer applications were more complex and had a greater number of components, thus the planning and skills required to roll these out was where we excelled. At the same time the dotcom bubble had taken off and we also worked with many companies helping them to get their back-end server and storage infrastructure correct for these web based applications.

Our services at that time were very much focused on scalable IT architectures, highly available (HA) infrastructures and ensuring data/system recovery in the event of a disaster. We built up extensive knowledge around IBM’s AIX technology stack, IBM ‘s Storage technologies, IBM’s Tivoli Storage Manager suite and the Oracle database suite of products. Over time we added skills and services around products from Microsoft, VMware, DoubleTake, CommVault, Symantec, Riverbed, Compellent and the Open Source communities so that today we have dedicated practices in many of these areas.

Key Milestones in Origina’s History:

1998 – Unitech Systems founded with office based in Sandyford, Dublin.

1999 – Unitech Systems wins first of many Partnership awards

2004 – Unitech Systems launches Teaming Remote Managed Services for IBM Tivoli Storage Manager.

2005 – Unitech Systems opens UK office in Woking, Surrey (trading as RussellJack Technology)

2007 – Unitech Systems wins first of many Industry awards, ICT Excellence Award for "Project of the Year (Private Sector)"

2007 – Unitech Systems sets up dedicated Innovation & Development team to focus on developing in-house service offerings, technology partnerships, and target markets.

2008 – Unitech Systems rebrands as Origina and drops the RussellJack Technology name in the UK.

2008 – Origina's Innovation & Development team launches Rapid-Support platform for more cost effective and secure delivery of remote service offerings

2008 - Origina wins 2nd ICT Excellence Award for "Project of the Year (Public Sector)"

2009 – Origina’s RapidSupport platform shortlisted for Small Firms Association (SFA) Innovation Award.

2009 - Origina wins 3rd ICT Excellence award for "Green IT Initiative of the Year" award for project with HSE Galway
